Pro, trial & licenses
What's the difference between Pro and Pro Lifetime?
Pro unlocks all current Pro features and includes updates for the current major version of AltTab. Pro Lifetime adds every future major update, forever. Both are one-time payments — no subscription. See the pricing page.
What happens after the Pro trial ends?
The trial lasts 14 days. After that, free features keep working forever — only Pro-only features (search, extra appearance styles, auto-size, and additional shortcuts) are gated until you purchase. Nothing is lost. Buy any time from the pricing page.
I bought Pro but didn't receive my license key email. What should I do?
Check your spam folder first. If it's not there after 10 minutes, go to My Account, enter the email you used to pay, and click "Email me the license key". It will land in your inbox within a minute.
I lost my license key. How do I get it back?
Sign in at My Account with the email you used to pay. You'll see every license you've bought, with a button to email each key to yourself.
How do I activate my license?
Click the activation link in the email we sent — it opens AltTab and activates in one step. You can also open AltTab's Settings → AltTab Pro, paste the key, and click Activate.
How many Macs can I use one license on?
Each license supports 3 simultaneous activations. If you hit the limit — for example when setting up a new Mac — deactivate an older machine from My Account to free a slot. You can also deactivate from within AltTab itself (Settings → AltTab Pro → "Deactivate license on this machine").
I'm moving to a new Mac. How do I transfer my license?
Two options: deactivate the old Mac first (AltTab Settings → AltTab Pro → Deactivate, or from My Account), then activate on the new one. Or just activate on the new Mac — if you're over the limit, AltTab will let you pick an old machine to deactivate from the activation dialog.
Where do I find my receipt or invoice?
Sign in at My Account, then click "View receipts / invoices". It takes you to our payment provider's portal where you can download a PDF for any purchase.
How do I request a refund?
We offer a 30-day refund window, no questions asked. Sign in at My Account, find the license, and click "Request refund". A short reason is optional but helps us improve.
macOS compatibility
Why does AltTab need Accessibility permissions?
macOS requires Accessibility access for any app that reads window titles or moves focus between windows. AltTab uses it solely for window switching — nothing else. Grant it in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility.
Why does AltTab need Screen Recording permissions?
macOS requires Screen Recording for any app that reads on-screen window previews. Without it, AltTab still works but can't show thumbnails. Grant it in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording.
Does AltTab work offline?
Yes. Once your license is activated, AltTab works fully offline. The app re-checks your license with our server every so often, but a failed check never locks the app — it just retries later.
Does AltTab work with Stage Manager?
Yes. AltTab shows all open windows regardless of whether Stage Manager is on or off.
Can I use AltTab alongside macOS Command-Tab?
Yes. By default AltTab uses Option-Tab so it doesn't conflict with the built-in switcher. You can also remap it to Command-Tab if you prefer to replace the default entirely.
Updates & project
How do I update AltTab?
AltTab updates itself silently in the background. You can also trigger a check manually from the menubar icon → "Check for updates…"
Is AltTab open source?
Yes. The source code is on GitHub under GPL-3.0 — you can build it yourself. The Pro license applies to the pre-built, signed, notarized binaries we distribute.
How do I report a bug or request a feature?
Open an issue or discussion on GitHub. For anything license- or purchase-related, email [email protected].
